HR Generalist

Ralph Appelbaum Associates is seeking a full-time, US-based, HR Generalist (remote) for an immediate start. Reporting to the Director of People Operations, this position administers the firm’s HR functions and programs. The role will work with and support our team of multidisciplinary staff and offers a dynamic working environment interacting with creative talent from around the world.


  • Assists in the preparation of annual HR activity calendars and ensures the timely completion of new and recurring initiatives
  • Administers compensation and benefits plans, including payroll, benefits, and retirement plans
  • Organizes the firm’s annual performance management process
  • Implements and tracks compliance with mandatory trainings
  • Tracks vacation, sick, and comp time balances
  • Maintains digital employee files
  • Assists in the recruitment process by managing open job postings, performing candidate reviews, and conducting interviews
  • Supports hiring and onboarding processes by preparing offer letters, facilitating background checks, scheduling onboarding sessions, and coordinating with IT and administrative teams
  • Manages and responds to employee inquiries and requests, referring complex or sensitive matters to the Director of People Operations
  • Participates in employee disciplinary sessions, contributes to mediation sessions, and implements terminations as necessary
  • Manages and audits HR databases and systems to ensure accuracy and compliance
  • Analyzes data and prepares reports on key HR metrics
  • Performs other duties as assigned


  • 2+ years of related professional experience required
  • Advanced degree in Human Resources or related field preferred
  • Demonstrated knowledge of HR best practices and of federal, state and local employment laws
  • Familiarity with the management of HRIS and ATS systems
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively
  • A high level of discretion, confidentiality, and sensitivity
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational ability
