Kaiser Permanente Center for Total Health
Washington, D.C.

Kaiser Permanente Center for Total Health is a 12,000-square-foot interactive learning destination for the public, policymakers, and the health sector that showcases advances in health care and its delivery in the United States. The center is described as a hybrid: a cross between corporate communications facility and visitor center.

RAA was asked to create a visitor experience that combines an innovation center with an environment conducive for discussions about “total health”—promoting physical, mental, and social well-being.

Visitors are greeted by the 80-foot long, 9-foot tall interactive Discovery Wall themed “Total Health Across America,” demonstrating different aspects of health from prevention and wellness through community health and the environment.

After a quiz on a giant, interactive video wall by the entrance to the center, the tour goes through a gauntlet of personas based on the different types of people who use healthcare services at Kaiser Permanente.

The center deploys and integrates state-of-the-art technologies: touch-screen walls that speak to the concept of total health, a multi-touch video wall, and demo stations that highlight innovations in telemedicine, mobile health apps, medication adherence, and delivery of care through smart devices.

The center is a popular destination hosting hundreds of tours and events each year where visitors can explore the concept of total health through unique immersive exhibits.
