RAA collaborated with RxART and Maimonides Health on a new site-specific installation by artist Julia Chiang for the newly constructed Pediatric Emergency Department in Brooklyn, New York. As RxART’s corporate design partner, RAA worked closely with the organization and project stakeholders to integrate contemporary art into the healthcare environment, enhancing the experience of patients, families, caregivers, and staff.

The installation features large-scale adaptations of two of Chiang’s paintings: She Said She Could See You Right There, Right There (2023), located in the main vestibule, and So Far So Safe (2022), installed along a central corridor. Together, the works create a welcoming and immersive first impression, transforming key circulation spaces into environments that encourage comfort, reflection, and connection.

Chiang’s abstract compositions draw inspiration from the relationship between the natural world and the human body. Her vibrant colors and flowing forms evoke movement, resilience, and the rhythms of everyday life. Installed on durable, medical-grade Acrovyn, the artwork is designed to withstand the demands of a busy clinical setting while maintaining its visual impact over time.

This project reflects RAA’s ongoing commitment to creating meaningful public experiences through design. By helping integrate art into healthcare environments, we support spaces that address not only physical needs but also emotional well-being. Through this collaboration with RxART and Maimonides Health, the Pediatric Emergency Department becomes more than a place of care; it becomes a place of welcome, reassurance, and possibility.
