In celebration of Hans Christian Andersen’s 200th birthday, this traveling exhibition pays tribute to the life and works of Denmark’s most beloved storyteller. Originally hosted at the historic Rosenborg Castle in Copenhagen, the exhibit has since traveled to Scotland, showcasing Andersen’s profound impact over nearly two centuries.

The exhibit features a specially designed pavilion resembling an enormous book, offering a unique blend of multimedia presentations and interactive activities. Visitors embark on a journey through Andersen’s fascinating 19th-century life and iconic fairytales, enriched by interactive storytelling alcoves and opportunities to create paper cutouts projected onto a “Dreamwall.”

Over 100 original artifacts, including manuscripts, personal objects, drawings, and collages, are displayed with the utmost care, respecting their rarity and value. To engage a diverse audience, the exhibit is designed for schoolchildren, the general public, and literary scholars. Innovative approaches invite visitors to connect deeply with Andersen’s narratives, including various themed zones shaped like oversized, walk-in books. Each area showcases a different fairy tale alongside a corresponding sculpture, animated short films, and audio programs.

An original 30-minute musical composition by young Danish composer Kenny Leger enhances the experience, creating an immersive atmosphere throughout the exhibition. This unique blend of history, creativity, and technology aims to inspire a new generation to explore the enchanting world of Hans Christian Andersen while providing fresh insights into his enduring legacy.
